MCA & qPCR Tests

Microbial Community Analysis (MCA): Wastewater microbial community (microbiome) analysis is a total microbial census revealing good and bad actors in your biomass.

Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) tests let you track key microorganisms or populations identified by the MCA.

Microscopic Exam

Advanced microscopic exam includes evaluation of floc structure and visual identification of filamentous organisms responsible for bulking.

Quick Reporting

MCA results are typically available within 5-7 business days, while qPCR results can be ready within 48 hours. Need results sooner? Just ask for rush processing.

Sampling For Molecular Tests Is Easy!

Lean on Aster Bio microbiology experts to analyze and focus on the important microorganisms and the ways they may impact your operations. Make timely decisions — and save money — by understanding and controlling your biomass composition. Request your wastewater DNA collection kit to begin!

Step 1

Collect a Sample

Our biomass collection kit keeps things simple. Using the supplied sterile pipet, transfer 2 milliliters of MLSS to a collection tube, shake to mix, and add a label.

Step 2

Ship to Lab

Drop the sample in a padded envelope and ship it to our in-house environmental testing laboratory using your preferred next-day delivery service. No ice or ice chest required.

Step 3

Review Report

MCA results are usually available within 5-7 business days, although samples can be rushed for results in 24-48 hours. qPCR results for tracking key strains are usually available within 24-48 hours.

Difficult Sample Collection?

Don’t let a difficult-to-collect sample slow you down. If you have low-biomass samples, we can still help. Just let us know about your unique situation.
